Thoughts on Agentic AI and Enterprise Software
Author: Tracye Turner, President and CEO of Revelo Software
Over the last 2-3 years, our team has put on webinars on Agentic AI, weighing the benefits, concerns and practical use cases. With our 25 years of experience with performance data, analytics and AI, we operationalized much of it in software. Revelo Software's modular rapid-build application capabilities and ecosystem of products, all designed to streamline operations, we can see how this AI and enterprise software convergence can work - well, at least for the next five years.
For timely decision making, we remain convinced that a solid foundation of upfront multidisciplinary design, data preparation, governance and traceability are key to trusted and consistent enterprise deployments.
This approach provides options for any organization to go with alternatives such as robotic process automation, localized LLMs, analytics or enterprise agentic AI. With the trillions of dollars being poured into AI companies, to move your entire enterprise in this direction may be costly down the road, irrevocable and energy dependent.
Mature organizations have enterprise systems such as MS SharePoint, Salesforce, ServiceNow, GMail, SAP, etc. These organizations seek to reduce redundancy, streamline and glean insights not just for their executives, but at all levels of daily and strategic decision making. They need to optimize these sytems and also to bring in timely and trusted external data sources. This ultimately means that it is the workflows, across curated and harmonized data and content that provides contextualized and actionable intelligence.
I don't believe organizations are ready at this point to let bots loose across their all of their systems just yet. But you can get your data ready to be optimized for whatever path you take.
It is clear that the major Generative AI options evolve almost quarterly and can be combined to achieve your organization's objectives. We all know about the trillions poured into their development and most other companies can't compete with or ignore the giants at that level - but we can optimize the ways that these tools are leveraged which can make a difference for our organizations.
