Transparency about the optional use of AI in document remediation

Last Updated: September 14, 2026

e-508 is Level 0 by default - No Material AI Use.

Artificial intelligence is used only when a customer elects the optional AI-Assisted Remediation service provided through e-508's API integration with Accessibility-on-Demand (AoD). Human Remediation is also available.

Purpose of this disclosure

This statement explains when artificial intelligence is - and is not - used in Revelo Software's e-508 document remediation service. It is intended to give customers a clear understanding of the remediation method they select and the role of AI in that workflow.

AI use at a glance

Standard e-508 platform Level 0 - No Material AI Use
Human Remediation Available; remediation is performed by human accessibility specialists without the optional AoD AI-assisted remediation service
AI-Assisted Remediation Optional; provided through an API integration with Accessibility-on-Demand (AoD)
Purpose of the AoD option To streamline document remediation and provide a more cost-effective remediation option

AI Disclosure

Standard e-508 and Human Remediation

Except for the optional Accessibility-on-Demand service described below, e-508 does not use generative AI or other artificial intelligence to perform document remediation. Standard e-508 functions and Human Remediation workflows are classified by Revelo Software as Level 0 - No Material AI Use. Customers may select Human Remediation, in which accessibility specialists perform the remediation without using the AoD AI-assisted remediation service.

Optional AI-Assisted Remediation through Accessibility-on-Demand

e-508 also offers an optional AI-Assisted Remediation service through an API integration with Accessibility-on-Demand (AoD). This option is available to help streamline document remediation and provide a more cost-effective alternative for appropriate documents and workflows.

When AI-Assisted Remediation is selected, that job is processed through the AoD integration. The use of AoD applies only to the selected remediation job or workflow and does not change the Level 0 classification of standard e-508 functions or Human Remediation.

Remediation options

e-508 distinguishes between the following remediation service paths:

  • Human Remediation - No AI-Assisted Remediation
  • AI-Assisted Remediation - Provided through Accessibility-on-Demand (AoD)

The selected remediation method can be identified in the applicable service selection, order, job record, or related remediation documentation so customers can distinguish AI-Assisted Remediation from Human Remediation.

Human review and quality assurance

AI-Assisted Remediation and Human Remediation are distinct service paths. Selection of the AoD option should not be interpreted as Human Remediation unless human review or quality assurance is separately identified as part of the selected service. Where human review or QA is included, e-508 should identify that status separately from the AI-assisted remediation method.

Accessibility validation and limitations

AI-assisted remediation is intended to improve efficiency and affordability, but automated or AI-assisted processes may not identify or correctly resolve every accessibility issue in every document. AI-assisted processing alone should not be interpreted as an independent certification or guarantee of conformance with Section 508, WCAG, PDF/UA, or other applicable accessibility requirements. Any required validation, human quality assurance, or conformance determination should be performed in accordance with the selected service, customer requirements, and applicable standards.

Third-party AI service

Accessibility-on-Demand is a third-party service. Revelo Software makes the optional AI-assisted remediation capability available within e-508 through an API integration. When that option is selected, use of AoD is subject to the applicable contractual, security, privacy, and data-processing requirements governing the customer's e-508 service and the integrated AoD service.

Short-form disclosure

AI Disclosure: e-508 does not use AI for its standard platform functions or Human Remediation services. Customers may optionally select AI-Assisted Remediation, provided through an API integration with Accessibility-on-Demand (AoD), to streamline processing and provide a more cost-effective remediation option. AI-assisted processing does not by itself constitute an independent accessibility conformance certification and may require additional validation depending on the document, service selected, and applicable requirements.
